Course summary

A Level Chemistry QAN code 60157318/1110 A Level Chemistry takes you beyond GCSE to understand what drives reactions; how they occur in detail and the ways we can control them. From smaller, longer-lasting mobile phone batteries to safer, more effective medicines, many advances we take for granted rely on developments in Chemistry. Our increasing knowledge of the subject has allowed us to exploit our planet’s natural resources to make our lives more prosperous and comfortable. In the 21st Century, Chemistry helps us conserve these resources and allows us to monitor mankind’s impact on the Earth. In the future, it offers us hope that we might remedy some of the damage we seem to be causing. Future Opportunities - It is difficult to find a subject that opens up as many different career options. A Level Chemistry enables you to follow degree courses and subsequent careers, not only in the science and engineering sectors, but as an essential requirement to study medicine, veterinary medicine, pharmacy, ophthalmology and dentistry. Chemistry is also highly valued because it helps you develop the important skills of problem solving, research, communication and numeracy. These can lead to careers in management, law and finance. Other career opportunities are to be found in scientific journalism and broadcasting. Staff member contact - Mr Skidmore
