Course summary
BTEC National Diploma in Health & Social Care QAN code 60171947/PA1 *You must also select Health & Social Care (Single Award) as one of your choices. This enables the National Diploma to be chosen as well* This course is equivalent to two A Levels and provides a Level 3 introduction to the health and social care sector. It is suitable for students who are interested in careers within health, social care, early years and education sectors. There are eight units of work: Unit 4: Enquiries into Current Research in Health and Social Care Unit 7: Principles of Safe Practice in Health and Social Care Unit 8: Promoting Public Health Plus two optional units selected from: Work Experience in Health and Social Care, Sociological Perspectives, Psychological Perspectives, Supporting Individuals with Additional Needs, Physiological disorders (depending on numbers and staffing). Plus three units from the Single Award course. Students must be competent at organising work files and meeting deadlines. Students can progress to a wide range of career and higher education opportunities including degree courses in nursing, midwifery, teacher training and social work when taken with compatible subjects.
