Physics is the science of how matter interacts, and it spans the whole range from the very smallest particles right up to the universe itself. As a physical science there is an emphasis on predicting behaviour and testing through observation and measurement. Studying A Level Physics gives students an insight into how the entire universe works & the nature of existence. It provides highly sought-after skills, in demand and in shortage. When the average graduate job has 52 applicants, physics provides a rare advantage and head turning qualification that puts them at an advantage over others. Topics studied as part of the course include: 1. Measurements and errors 2. Particles and radiation 3. Waves 4. Mechanics and materials 5. Electricity 6. Further mechanics and thermal physics 7. Fields and their consequences 8. Nuclear physics 9. Engineering physics
Either GCSE Physics + one other GCSE Science at Grade 6, or Combined Science at Grade 6/6 is required to study A Level Physics GCSE Maths: Grade 6 GCSE English Language: Grade 6
3 x two-hour written exams, each worth 33.3% of total A Level There are also practical skill assessments throughout the course.
