A Level German is essential preparation for degree courses which include this language; German can also be combined with a range of other subjects at university.
Students wishing to pursue an A Level programme must, in all but exceptional circumstances, have achieved 6 standard GCSE passes (grade 4-9), with a strong pass (grade 5 or higher) in at least 4. Students should also attain the subject-specific minimum grades in subjects relevant to those to be studied Grade 5 in German at GCSE. Grade 4 in English Language and at least one grade 5 in another literate subject.
30% oral examination/40% Listening, reading and translation/30% written examination
