
This course is the scientific study of the mind and human behaviour. Psychologists use scientific methods to conduct experiments to observe the way that people act and interact. The subject combines particularly well with other science and social science subjects. It develops a set of important transferable skills including critical analysis and research design.
Students wishing to pursue an A Level programme must, in all but exceptional circumstances, have achieved 6 standard GCSE passes (grade 4-9), with a strong pass (grade 5 or higher) in at least 4. Students should also attain the subject-specific minimum grades in subjects relevant to those to be studied If taken, grade 5 in Psychology at GCSE. Grade 4 in English Language, Maths and either Double Science or two separate sciences. At least one grade 5 in a literate subject.
