AS/A Level Mathematics: When studying Pure Mathematics students will be extending their knowledge of such topics as algebra and trigonometry, as well as learning some brand new ideas such as calculus. Although many of the ideas met in Pure Mathematics are interesting in their own right, they also serve as a vital foundation for the other branches of mathematics that we study. The course will include elements of Applied Maths from Mechanics and Statistics which will give you a good grounding in two very different areas of mathematics. These applied elements will help you in your pursuits of a wide range of mathematical degrees and future careers. The A level in Maths is a two-year linear course which is assessed by means of 3x2 hour papers at the end of two years.
