A-level Further Maths

Course summary

Further Mathematics is an extension of the A Level Mathematics course. Further modules in Core Maths, Statistics and Mechanics are studied, exploring wider themes and developing a broader, more in depth understanding and a more sophisticated solving ability. This course is recommended for those students who wish to study Mathematics in Higher Education. The Further Mathematics course allows for some optional electives which may be selected from more advanced Pure Mathematics, Statistics, Mechanics or Decision Mathematics. The A level in further maths will be assessed by means of 4 x 1.5 hour exams. Two of these will cover pure mathematics and the other two will cover the elective modules.
