The course will provide students interested in studying the past with the ideal opportunity to develop their existing interests and to explore some of the most exciting periods of history. The course is divided into four units. Three are assessed by examination at the end of a two year linear course. The four units are: • Liberals, Conservatives and the Rise of Labour 1846-1918 (British Period Study and Enquiry) • Democracy and Dictatorship in Germany, 1919–1963 (Non-British Period Study) • Popular Culture and the Witchcraze of the 16th and 17th Centuries (Thematic study and historical interpretations) • Historical Enquiry The first three are assessed by examination at the end of a two year course.
