Course summary

Film and Television Production is a BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate. It is a two-year course worth the same number of university points as one A level. The course is 67% coursework (4 units) and 33% Controlled Assessment. There are no exams. It is different from Film Studies (where students analyse and write essays about films), in that it is production-based. Most units involve researching, planning and making Film and TV productions. Students will study a variety of topics, including • Filming with a Single Camera (e.g. DSLR) • Video Editing • Producing a short Fiction Film • Making a Stop Motion Animation Production topics that might be studied include, but are not limited to: • Music Video; • Genre films (e.g. sci-fi, horror, etc) • Dystopian Britain This course would suit any creative who is looking to begin a career track in film or TV production, or anyone who is looking to complement other creative post-16 choices.
