Course summary
This qualification, also known as “Core Maths,” is a new Mathematics course that will build a broader base of mathematical understanding and skills in order to support the mathematical content in other Level 3 qualifications, for example GCE A Level Biology, Business Studies, Economics, Computing, Geography, Psychology, BTEC Applied Science, Business and IT. This Level 3 Certificate Mathematical Studies qualification will consolidate students' mathematical understanding, build their confidence and competence in applying mathematical techniques to solve a range of problems and introduce them to new techniques and concepts that will prepare them for further study and future employment within a broad range of academic, professional and technical fields. This qualification is worth 40% of an A-Level and is worth UCAS points for university applications.
