The course covers Biology, Chemistry, Physics and some Mathematics, with an additional unit in the field of Biology. This course is designed for students who wish to progress to university or alternatively seek an apprenticeship or go directly into employment. The BTEC Applied Science course is equivalent to one A-level and is designed to be studied over two years.

Assessment
The course consists of 4 separate units, which will be tested through a combination of internally marked assignments, tasks set and marked externally, and written assessments set and marked externally. The units which will be covered are Principles and Application of Science, Practical Scientific Procedures and Techniques, Science Investigation Skills and finally Pysiology of Human Body Systems. Two units will be examined and eternally marked. The other two units will be coursework marked by the teachers and checked by the exam board.
