At its most basic level, Mathematics is about understanding patterns, writing rules to describe the patterns and then using them to make predictions. In many ways Mathematics is the language of the universe and unravelling its secrets leads to insight and intrigue, beauty and elegance. Learning Mathematics develops your ability to think logically, to analyse problems and to solve them by breaking them into smaller steps.

Standard Entry Requirements – 5 good GCSE passes at grade 4 or above, including Maths and English. Successful students will enjoy Mathematics, have a good track-record in it and enjoy working hard on complex problems. Students will need to be good at logical thinking, problem-solving and abstract thinking. Mathematics is highly challenging so persistence and resilience are critical.
