
BTEC Information Technology offers learners a modern, work-related qualification which opens the door to higher education and a career. It builds high-level skills such as teamwork, creative thinking and presentation skills and develops independent research and study skills. BTEC IT is a broad and varied course that offers a range of opportunities for students to develop an understanding of Information Technology and it’s uses in the business environment. BTEC L3 National Extended Certificate in IT is equivalent to a full A Level.
Academy Entry Requirements: A minimum of five GCSE grades 9 – 4. If you have studied a GCSE equivalent ICT qualification you should have achieved a grade 5 or above, or a merit.
The vocational nature of this course means that there is an emphasis on developing practical skills in key areas of IT/Computing. The assessment of the course is 57% exam and 43% coursework portfolio.
