A Level Biology
Abbey Grange Church of England Academy
Course summary
A-level Biology is a challenging, rewarding course that helps students develop skills and knowledge necessary for a successful career. Biology is one of the most popular A-level subjects in the country, attracting students studying a wide range of other subjects. Many of the units taught build upon the topics studied at GCSE – but in greater depth! New units will look at topics such as how genes are controlled; biochemistry – in particular the chemistry of the main food groups, as well as details of the processes of photosynthesis and respiration. You will learn about the physiology of the nervous, endocrine and digestive systems, in addition to genetics and evolution. Practical work forms an important part of the Biology A Level, with a practical endorsement available for those who provide sufficient evidence of their skills in this area.
