
This course aims to equip students with an in-depth knowledge of the key historical events and developments which have shaped Anglo-American society since the First World War. Through a combination of breadth studies (change over an extended period of time) and depth studies (individuals and events in detail) our students will develop an understanding of the political, social, and economic developments of the last one hundred years of Britain and America.
Academy Entry Requirements for A Level pathway: A minimum of five GCSE grades 9 – 4. GCSE History at grade 5 or above
Students will sit all units by the end of Year 13. Paper 1: Britain, 1625-1701: conflict, revolution and settlement Written exam: Breadth study with interpretations: 30% of A Level Paper 2: Russia in Revolution, 1894-1924 Written exam: Depth study: 20% of A Level Paper 3: Civil right and race relations in the USA, 1850-2009 Written exam: Themes in breadth with aspects in depth: 30% of A Level Coursework: Independently researched essay 20% of A Level
