This course aims to blend technical skills with the business, interpersonal and project management skills that are needed no only by the computing sector, but by all sectors using technology in a modern business environment. The BTEC National Foundation Diploma is equivalent to 1.5 A Levels and forms part of our ESPORTS pathway. Alternatively it can be studied alongside the BTEC National Foundation Diploma in IT. The course will complete the same units as the Extended Certificate: • Unit 1: Principles of Computer Science (Externally assessed) • Unit 2: Fundamentals of Computer Science (Externally assessed) • Unit 7: IT Systems Security and Encryption (Internally assessed) • Unit 15: Website Development (Internally assessed) Additional Unit to the Extended Certificate is: Unit 8: Business Applications of Social Media (Internally assessed) Learners will explore how organisations use social media to promote their products and/or services, and implement social media activities for an organisation to meet its business requirements.
Typically, you will have at least five GCSEs graded 9-4 including English and Maths. Alternatively you may have equivalent L2 qualifications to access this course. Where you do not meet the entry requirements, your application will still be considered during interview where we can ascertain your knowledge and commitment to this subject.
There are 6 units to complete of which 4 are mandatory and 3 are external. Mandatory content (83%) External Content (58%) Units 1,2,7 & 15 in line with the Extended Certificate. Additional Units: Unit 8: Business Applications of Social Media and one further unit to be decided with the teacher
