Computing - BTEC National Foundation Diploma (equivalent to 1.5 A Levels)
Course summary
Are interested in pursuing a career in computing? Are you enthusiastic about the ever changing technological demands of industry? This course aims to blend technical skills with the business, interpersonal and project management skills that are needed no only by the computing sector, but by all sectors using technology in a modern business environment. The BTEC National Foundation Diploma is equivalent to 1.5 A Levels and forms part of our ESPORTS pathway. Alternatively it can be studied alongside the BTEC National Foundation Diploma in IT. The course will complete the same units as the Extended Certificate: • Unit 1: Principles of Computer Science (Externally assessed) • Unit 2: Fundamentals of Computer Science (Externally assessed) • Unit 7: IT Systems Security and Encryption (Internally assessed) • Unit 15: Website Development (Internally assessed) Additional Unit to the Extended Certificate is: Unit 8: Business Applications of Social Media (Internally assessed) Learners will explore how organisations use social media to promote their products and/or services, and implement social media activities for an organisation to meet its business requirements.
