Course summary
This qualification is based on the hairdressing National Occupational Standards (NOS) and is recognised by the UK's leading professional body (The Hairdressing Council) as being fit for purpose for preparing students for a career as a junior hairdresser/stylist. The aim of the course is to develop hairdressing skills and knowledge and it will also enable you to perform your own services and to assist others in the salon. Students will gather evidence for assessment through the study of mandatory and optional units, in a real working environment without the need for fee-paying clients. You will complete the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing in Year 1 and and this must be passed successfully to progress into Year 2 and working towards the Level 3 qualification. The qualification covers 8 mandatory units which will develop your knowledge and understanding of health and safety and legislation requirements. You will also provide a range of cutting, colouring and styling services and develop communication, customer service, and problem solving and research skills.
