Course summary

Core Maths is a one-year Level 3 qualification, studied in addition to three A-Level equivalent programme. This extra qualification can be taken in Year 12 or Year 13 and is suitable for students not studying A-Level Maths. Core Maths provides a sound basis for the mathematical demands that students will face at university and within employment across a broad range of academic, professional and technical fields. Core Maths is looked upon favourably by employers and universities and it has been endorsed by the Russell Group universities. Entry requirements

Grade 4 or above including English Language and Maths to access this course.

This course is assessed in the following way: Paper 1 • Written exam: 1 hour 30 minutes • 60 marks • Scientific calculator or graphics calculator allowed • Formulae sheet available Paper 2 • Written exam: 1 hour 30 minutes • 60 marks • Paper 2A (Statistical techniques) or Paper 2B (Critical path and risk analysis) or Paper 2C (Graphical techniques)
