Course summary
This A-level will engage students through encouraging creativity, focusing on practical work which reflects 21st-century theatre practice and developing skills that will support progression to further study of drama and a wide range of other subjects. Students will explore engaging performance texts and experience live theatre. You will devise your own performances and further develop your performance (or design) skills. Where will it lead? The study of Drama will lead to a wide variety of careers in the arts, teaching, journalism and media. This course will support students who wish to study the performing arts in higher education. The study of Drama encourages you to link theory and practice and to approach problem-solving in a creative way. The study of recognised theatre practitioners and iconic set plays will broaden your understanding of literature and the arts and enable you to understand historical, cultural and social context. Enrichment opportunities Theatre visits are an essential part of the course; workshops with directors, writers and actors as well as masterclasses at venues such as The Globe.
