
Politics A Level will help you to develop your critical thinking skills and enable you to interpret, evaluate and comment on the modern political system, on both a domestic and international level. Through your learning you will be able to understand the way in which domestic and global current affairs are shaped by the structure and ideologies of the political landscape. You should consider studying Politics if you have a genuine interest in current affairs and politics; expect to read a broadsheet newspaper on a daily basis. Politics is a fast paced and dynamic subject, in both the first and second years, therefore you should consider studying the subject if you enjoy engaging in lively classroom discussions; it is important to note however, that studying politics is about the academic study of political systems and ideologies, and therefore current affairs will be discussed within this context. Politics is an interesting and excellent subject to complement any other option choices but it would be especially suited to those also studying History, Geography or Economics.
