
Students completing the course successfully will have a thorough understanding of drama and theatre, highly toned analytical, evaluative and creative skills and an ability to communicate effectively with others. The A Level course provides students with the opportunity to work as performers, directors and designers through both play texts and devised performances. A-level students will study a range of plays and theatre practitioners applying various rehearsal methodologies and performance techniques to their studies. Students will have many opportunities to watch professional theatre and create critical analysis of the work seen. This knowledge of theatre making will be applied to the creation of devised drama and the exploration of textual extracts from published plays.
GCSE Drama and English Grade 4 and above
A Level Drama and Theatre is split into three components: Component 1: Drama and Theatre (written exam) 40% externally assessed Component 2: Creating original Drama (Devised unit with a Working Notebook) 30% internally assessed Component 3: Making Theatre (A text based performance unit with a written reflective report) 30% externally assessed by visiting examiner.
