Students will study Anatomy and Physiology, Fitness Training and Programming for Health, Practical Sports Performance and Professional Development in the Sports Industry. The Anatomy and Physiology examination focuses on the body systems, including the cardiovascular and respiratory systems and how they adapt to improve sporting performance. The Fitness Training unit focuses on the evaluation of a client’s lifestyle, with the aim of creating a training programme to improve their health and fitness. Both of these units are externally assessed. All other units are coursework based and will be in the form of written reports, presentations and group tasks. These units will provide the students with a broad range of knowledge in this sector. The course will be taught in a practical way with students placed in vocational situations. We feel this method of teaching prepares students for the workplace, with many students perusing a career in this sector.
Grade 4 or above on GCSE Physical Education or a Merit at BTEC Level 2 (if previously studied)
