Topics include smartphones in society, “machismo” v. feminism, the influence of the Catholic Church in contemporary society, immigration in the Spanish speaking world, Spanish regional identity, art and architecture in Hispanic countries, the evolution of the monarchy in Spain, Latin American dictators, and Spanish cinema. You will also study at least 1 literary text and 1 Spanish film in depth. You should expect to build up your vocabulary and your reading and listening skills by reading for pleasure in Spanish and listening to Spanish on TV, radio or online.
