Course summary

You will study A2 Mathematics in year 12 and will carry on to study A level Further Mathematics in year 13. Examinations for both subjects will be taken at the end of year 13: 3 examinations for Mathematics and 4 examinations for Further Mathematics. This counts as ONE A level choice and you DO NOT opt for AS/A2 Mathematics, it is included in the course. As well as the topics covered in A level Mathematics, students will cover proof, algebra and functions, calculus and vectors in more depth and will be introduced to matrices, complex numbers, polar coordinates and differential equations which are vital in many STEM degrees. Students will also deepen their knowledge of applied mathematics with Further Mechanics and Further Decision Mathematics. Students who take Further Mathematics enjoy mathematics and the challenge it provides.
