
Students will study the anatomy and physiology of the human body, as well as how to train the body for optimal sports performance. They will also study skill acquisition and psychology, looking into the mind of the sports performer. Students will investigate contemporary issues in sport which relate to the culture and heritage of sport today. Finally they will analyse how technology is used in sport with a focus on how new technology can aid sports performance. Students will conduct a practical sports assessment and be required to analyse the performance of others. This will involve an oral examination where students identify a performer’s strengths and weaknesses and make recommendations for improvement.
Grade 5 or above in GCSE Physical Education theory paper or a distinction at BTEC Level 2 Sport Competing to a good standard in at least one Sport
