It is concerned with social behaviour and attempts to answer questions about why people behave in the way they do. For example, why do girls outperform boys in the education system? By taking the subject, you become a much more informed, questioning and critical citizen of society. Furthermore, you will walk away from Sociology with a completely different way of thinking about the world around you. What will you study? A Level Sociology provides the opportunity to study a number of key sociological issues. You will find out how Sociologists conduct research and undertake research projects of your own. You will also study topics in Sociology such as Education, Families, Crime and Poverty. University degrees that require or often prefer Sociology include: The study of Sociology at this level can lead to a range of further studies. Many Sociology students go on to take degrees in Sociology or a related field such as Anthropology, Criminology, Law, Politics, Psychology or Education. It is also seen as useful for any essay based subject such as English, History and Media.
