The Chemistry A level course covers the full range of Chemistry disciplines – Organic, Inorganic, Physical and Analytical. Students will develop their ideas of these key areas before applying their knowledge and understanding. The emphasis is on application rather than recall of knowledge. Our Chemistry students will have the opportunity to see how classroom knowledge can be developed further into industrial applications. This course requires learners to consider the ethical implications of Chemistry and how they affect and are affected by different processes. Strong numeracy skills are important to help students develop an understanding of chemical analysis. Chemistry combines theory with practical experience, encouraging imaginative, critical and logical thinking for problem solving; useful transferable skills to many future careers. It expands on the foundations built at GCSE level. It is a key subject for many Science based degree courses including Medicine, Veterinary studies, Pharmacy, Forensics and Biochemistry to name but a few. This course will appeal to those students who are hard working, well organised and have a keen interest in developing their Chemistry knowledge further.
