The extended project is a research project that gives students on opportunity to choose an area of study outside of their main subjects. This might be connected to their future career aspirations, or it might just be a subject area they have a keen interest in. Students will identify their aims and objectives and then they will design, plan and complete the project. Students will be assessed on their ability to use information from a range of sources, making appropriate links and connections to answer their chosen title. They will need to show a range of skills, solve problems and make critical decisions. As well as developing their reflective and evaluative skills. Students will need to be self-motivated and independent to keep to on track and deliver their project on time. Universities look very favourably on students who have taken the EPQ, as students will develop all the skills that are needed to be a successful undergraduate. Some universities may reduce their offer for students who achieve an A*/A in their EPQ.
