
The Cambridge Technical extended certificate in Sport and Physical Activity is an applied general qualification which is designed to deliver and develop the advanced level theoretical concepts and apply them to sport, exercise, health and leisure. Students will cover a broad range of content which will allow students to access higher education, Sport Science and develop the ability to work in the sports industry. The units that you will study are: Unit 1- The body responses to sport and physical activity* Unit 2- Sports coaching and activity leadership Unit 3- Sports organisation and development* Unit 10- Biomechanics and movement analysis Unit 19- Sport and exercise psychology (* Indicates that the unit is assessed by external exam) This course is assessed through exams and a coursework portfolio (which includes written documents, practical assessments, presentations, group work and applied tasks) The course is well suited for students who are interested in sport, would like to study sport and exercise science at university or work in sport, the fitness industry or in Education. If you have studied a more vocational course at KS4, you will need to achieve a Level 2 Merit to study CamTec Level 3 in Sport and Physical Activity.
Merit in a level 2 Vocational Sports Course or a 5 in GCSE PE Regularly playing sport is essential
