
This is a one-year that course focuses on using familiar maths concepts, as well as a few new ones, in a range of contexts to help prepare students to be competent and confident in using maths in their studies, careers and lives. It provides useful mathematical skills for students studying courses such as A Level Psychology, Economics, Geography and Business as well as technical and vocational qualifications. Students also learn key topics about mortgages, insurance, income, taxation and other key topics from personal finance to help them develop essential skills for adult life. Moreover, as a level 3 course, mathematical studies helps students earn UCAS points. The content is split into two sections: Mandatory content: Critical analysis, analysis of data, maths of personal finance and estimation. Optional content (Statistical Techniques): Students will be covering topics such as sampling, correlation and regression, probability, statistical modelling and the normal distribution.
