
RSL Music is an exciting and lively course if you enjoy performing, composing and have a passion for an eclectic range of music. RSL Music is a popular subject at Arthur Terry and you will need to be able to perform to a good standard on an instrument or sing to a good level and being able to read music is an advantage.
Please note: If students do not have a Level 2 Music qualification such as a GCSE, they are still able to to be accepted on to the course through an audition.
RSL Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Music is equivalent to an A-Level and is both a nationally and internationally recognised qualification. This two year course is designed to integrate both subject knowledge with practical application with an emphasis on coursework modulesand a live performance exam. RSL Ethos “We pride ourselves on delivering the most academically rigorous and industry relevant qualifications, designed to support all aspiring musicians, performers, educators and teaching establishments.” Our Alumni includes artists such as: Ed Sheeran and Jess Glynne who have both studied RSL qualifications. The course will be completed in March of Year 13 before other subject summer examinations. Module 1: Rehearsal Skills and Live Performance (30 credits – Externally Marked) Module 2: Planning a career in music (15 credits – Internally Marked and Moderated) Module 3: Improving Instrumental Performance (15 credits - Internally Marked & Moderated) Module 4: Composing Styles (15 credits - Internally Marked & Moderated) Module 5: Digital Recording and Production (15 credits - Internally Marked & Moderated) Students are awarded a Distinction*, Distinction, Merit or Pass for this qualification, enabling students to access upto 84 UCAS points.
