Course summary
Further Mathematics is a challenging and an enjoyable subject which is widely accepted as an excellent qualification to have by universities if you are applying for Science, Engineering or Mathematics based courses. Admissions tutors acknowledge that the rigour needed to be successful in Further Mathematics shows that students have high level logical thinking skills and an ability to apply them to a range of problems. It is often required in offers for these subjects at top institutions. By covering the Further Mathematics modules, students find that they are well prepared for the Mathematics content of their degree courses. They also get better grades in their Mathematics A Level as they have more practice of the techniques used. Mandatory All students must study Further Pure Mathematics 1 Further Pure Mathematics 2 Optional Students would also study 2 more optional modules. These would usually be 2 of: Further Mechanics 1 Further Mechanics 2 Further Statistics 1 Further Statistics 2 All modules are examined by written papers which last for 1 hr 30 minutes each.
