A practical vocational qualification worth two A-Levels for students who enjoy sport and physical activity. You will study a wide range of topics to develop your detailed knowledge and understanding of sport and sports science. The main content covered includes: Anatomy and physiology – you will learn how the body works and the impact of sport and exercise on the different body systems Sports coaching and officiating – you will develop your ability to plan and lead coaching sessions and officiate with confidence Fitness – you will learn how you can improve your fitness levels, applying all the principles of training Sport as a business – you will develop your knowledge of how to run a business in the sports sector Careers in the sports industry – you will extend your knowledge and understanding of the variety and range of career pathways in the sports industry
BTEC sport is assessed through three external examinations in anatomy and physiology, health, fitness and wellbeing and business in the sports industry. In addition to the external examinations you will complete a further six coursework units. The three examinations equate to 45% of your final grade.
