Course summary

People who study history are fearless explorers of the past. They investigate Politics, societies, cultures, languages, health, art, education, money, conflicts and more, look at how things have developed over time and connect the dots to understand how we got where we got today. The coursework unit of the A Level course allows you to write an essay on any topic of history you find interesting. Most schools tell you what topic to do but at BA we allow you to pick what interests you. As a result, students have based their coursework around diverse topics such as American Independence, Holocaust, War in Congo, Decolonisation of Africa, Apartheid, Indian Independence etc. Past students have said that the coursework element of our course was the biggest thing that set them up well for the independence and skills needed for University, especially for their dissertation.
