Literature helps to shape and define the world through the written word. It sharpens your own ability to write academically, debate eloquently, become analytical and insightful in your reading of texts whilst making thoughtful, relevant contextual references. At Barking Abbey, you will have the opportunity to study English Literature at A level. The ability to develop your skills of analysis, interpretation and self expression through the introduction to essential literary genres in the shape of prose, poetry, and drama texts. The chance to study the work of great canonical authors from Shakespeare to Chaucer as well as contemporary writers such as Margaret Atwood and F. Scott Fitzgerald. Whilst the taught texts will be led by two passionate teachers in the duration of the course, you'll have the freedom to work independently in your non-examination assessment, giving you autonomy to select your own choice of text.
Grade 5,5 in English Language / Literature is required in addition to the general entry requirements
