
Course Subject: BTEC Level 3 in Sport (Extended Certificate) Year on year the sport and active leisure sector outperforms the rest of the UK economy; this has been a trend since the end of the economic recession of the late 1990s, and researchers predict will continue to be the case for years to come, long after the sports legacy of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympics Games. The BTEC Level 3 in Sport provides an introduction to the sector for learners looking to build a career in sport, within one of its occupational areas. These areas include careers in exercise and fitness, coaching and leadership and sports development. You will study three mandatory units: • Unit 1: Anatomy and Physiology (written exam) • Unit 2: Fitness Training and Programming for Health, Sport and Well-being (written exam based on a case study) • Unit 3: Professional Development in the Sports Industry (internal coursework) You will also choose one optional unit (internal coursework) from a range which has been designed to support choices in progression to sport courses in higher education, and to link with relevant occupational areas.
