Applied mathematics is the study of real life situations that are modelled mathematically using the theory learnt in pure. The Applied modules in A Level mathematics are split into statistics, which concerns the collection, analysis and interpretation of data, and mechanics, which deals with the motion of objects and the effect of forces upon them. This module has a large overlap with forces and motion in physics.
