Course summary

Study the past to build yourself a successful future. In this course, you will gain a deeper understanding of nationalism, democracy and dictatorship across two countries; Germany and Italy. You will analyse the changes to these countries over different time periods. You will also look at how warfare and weapons changed over time, and how the role of the people changed through different conflicts. There will also be an opportunity for you to undertake an independent coursework task allowing you to look at historical interpretations of different events, for example, if Hitler planned the Holocaust. Studying history will allow you to develop your analytical skills and ability to construct well-sustained arguments. You will be able to evaluate the uses and limits of historical sources as well as support and counter argue academic interpretations.
