Course summary

The BTEC National Extended Certificate is an interesting and demanding course that provides a strong vocational foundation for entry into a wide range of careers in the health and social care profession. Learners of this course will be equipped with the knowledge, practical skills and experience necessary to succeed in a career in the nursing, social or childcare fields. Learning will involve a strong theoretical base that will develop effective communication skills, organisational ability and understanding of the core values of the care sector. This programme of study will prepare learners to offer and promote quality care, equality, diversity and rights and development through the life stages and care values.

Entry requirements

Grade 5 in GCSE Combined Science, and GCSE English Language and GCSE Mathematics

Year 12 : 1) Human Lifespan Development - 90 min external exam. 2) Meeting Individual Care and Support needs- 90 min external exam. Year 12 : 1) Working in health and social care- 90 min external exam. 2) Physiological disorders and their care - internally assessed assignments.
