Course summary

The course is split into three equally weighted parts: 1. Philosophy Arguments for the existence of God Evil and suffering Religious Experience Verifying religious experiences Religious Language Miracles Self, death and the afterlife 2. Ethics Normative ethical theories Application of natural moral law, situation ethics and virtue ethics to: issues of human life and death; issues of non-human life and death Introduction of meta ethics: the meaning of right and wrong Free will and moral responsibility Conscience Bentham and Kant 3. Christianity Sources of wisdom and authority God Self, death and afterlife Good conduct and key moral principles Expressions of religious identity Christianity, gender and sexuality Christianity and science Christianity and secularism Christianity, migration and religious pluralism Dialogues between Christianity and Philosophy/Ethics

Entry requirements

A Grade 7 in Religious Studies and a Grade 6 in English

100% Exam - 2 x 3 hour exams at the end of Year 13
