Course summary

The course is split into two units: 1. Acting Skills Development - 63% You will learn about different styles and forms of performance, develop your own work, and produce pieces for an audience. 2. The Performing Arts Industry – 37% You will learn about how the industry has evolved, the different career paths on offer, and how you might make a living in this, the fastest growing sector of the UK economy. How the course is taught You will complete a series of projects over the two-year period which will all contribute to your final grade. These will include: • Acting in performances directed by Year 13 students • Improvisation • Being directed in a performance which will be performed in the West End • Creating an original piece of theatre designed to educate children and touring it round local primary schools • Directing • Mask performance • Monologue and audition preparation • Vocal development • A final major performance • Projects about the industry itself Most of these are practical with some written reflections and log-book and presentation work.
