This course focuses on all aspects of art, craft, and design building upon the skills developed during GCSE. During the first year, students explore 2D and 3D representation through line, tone and colour based on figurative, representational, and abstract work as well as a wide range of practices that will develop their creative and problem-solving skills. In addition, students explore links to artists/designers and cultures and use this information to develop their work. As students progress into the 2nd year they will be encouraged to work more independently and produce a portfolio of work based on their own experience, interests and tastes. As this is an unendorsed course we can explore a wide range of subject matter covering the possibilities of fine art, illustration, graphic design, textiles, ceramics, sculpture, photography and digital art. This range of practical areas allow us to personally tailor the course to your interests and tastes.
