Studying law at De Aston School will give you an overview of different legal principles and specialisms. The course covers: The nature of law and the English legal system; Criminal Law; Tort Law; Contract Law. You will study different legal situations, how the law applies and the advice you would give to your client. Alongside this how laws are created by Parliament and applied by the courts and other organisations. When studying law you will develop your analytical ability, decision making, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. All these skills are highly sought after by higher education and employers.
This A-level course is assessed through examinations. There are three 2-hour papers. All papers focus upon the nature of law and the English legal system and another law specialism: Paper One - criminal law; Paper Two - Tort Law; Paper Three - Contract Law. All papers have some multiple choice and extended answer questions based upon different legal situations.
