
Geography is all about the study of the human and physical processes which surround us daily and shape our world. Students study 7 topics over the two years and complete one piece of independent course work. Physical Topics Natural Hazards Water and Carbon Cycles Geographical Skills Coastal Processes & Management Human Topics 5. Changing Places 6. Contemporary Urban Environments 7. Global Systems & Governance
To gain entry onto the Geography A-level course students will need to attain a grade 5 in GCSE Geography. Ideally students will also have a grade 5 in English Language GCSE.
At the end of the Course students are assessed by two examinations each lasting 2 hours and 30 minutes. Students also complete a piece of independent course work, the Non Exam Assessment, which contributes 20% of their final grade. Paper 1—Natural Hazards, Water & Carbon Cycles and Coastal Processes & Management. Paper 2—Changing Places, Contemporary Urban Environments and Global Systems & Governance.
