Design & Technology – Product Design (Eduqas) A Level encourages learners to use creativity and imagination when applying iterative design processes to develop and modify designs, and to design and make prototypes that solve real world problems, considering their own and others’ needs, wants, aspirations and values. The A Level Design & Technology specification is designed to develop learners’ subject knowledge, including how a product can be developed through the stages of prototyping, realisation and commercial manufacture.  Aims of the Course You will be encouraged to develop; Innovation whilst considering the role of a responsible designer Develop intellectual curiosity Gain an insight into the creative, engineering and/or manufacturing industries Develop knowledge and  experience of real world contexts Develop an in-depth knowledge and understanding of materials, components and processes

Assessment

Both AS and A Level Design & Technology courses are marked via two components; Component 1 – Examination 50% Component 2 – NEA 50%  The following assessments objectives are employed in both components; AO1 Identify, investigate and outline design possibilities to address needs and wants AO2 Design and make prototypes that are fit for purpose AO3 Analyse and evaluate             •design decisions and outcomes, including for prototypes made by themselves and others             •wider issues in design and technology AO4 Demonstrate and apply knowledge and understanding of            •technical principles •design and making principles
