Course summary

Sociology is the study of society and in particular, the different groups we belong to and the institutions that affect us, for example: education, the family, the mass media, religion and the law. You will also examine how research into these areas is carried out. Sociology will offer you the opportunity to look at the society in which you live, with ‘fresh eyes’. You will be required to challenge many of your taken-for- granted assumptions about some of our traditional institutions.
