Course summary
Business is a popular academic course that is firmly grounded in the reality of the dynamic business environment. It is a two year linear course and during this time students will learn subject content alongside examining real business events such as the Great Recession of 2008 and the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill. We will study how well known firms have grown under visionary leaders such as Howard Schultz of Starbucks and Steve Jobs of Apple. Students will understand how culture is formed and how different departments such as marketing, human resources, operations and finance are run to achieve a company’s chosen strategy. Business success and failures will be investigated to discover what we can learn from them and to bring theory to life. With hard work candidates regularly achieve strong examination success on this course. There will also be opportunities for trips and a real business start-up project to learn the challenges of being an entrepreneur first-hand. WHY THIS COURSE?
