Course summary
The two year linear A Level course is now in its third year. The work covers a range of subjects areas including advertising and marketing, film and television, pop music video and promotion, as well as print media and broadcast journalism. Content is updated regularly by the exam board; however current case studies include Straight Outta Compton, I Daniel Blake, Beyonce’s Lemonade and Dizzee Rascal. From a theoretical perspective students will also study key media concepts that include audience, representation and genre, as well as more advanced concepts like post-modernism. With links to Bournemouth Media School and Regal Cinema in Fordingbridge, the curriculum at Burgate is diverse and forward thinking with an emphasis on creativity and the use of technology.
