You could not ask for a more challenging course to get you thinking. Philosophy is one of the most ancient of disciplines and is founded on being able to formulate and defend critical arguments. The course looks at traditional arguments for the existence of God, the Problem of Evil and Suffering, Conscience, Free Will and Determinism to name but a few - we will prove to you that you have, in fact, no Free Will! We look at contemporary ethical problems such as war, euthanasia and sexual ethics as well as thinking about how businesses should ‘behave’. The course will also look at the role of religion in contemporary society as a source of morality and structure, considering how society and its relationship with religion has developed and changed. WHY THIS COURSE? Fast paced lessons – Interactive and engaging topics – Varied course content (Philosophy lends itself to both those who like the logic of science and also the discourse of a humanities subject) – Challenge your own ideas – Visits to conferences.
Grade 6 GCSE English Language or English Literature.
