Course summary

This course develops an understanding of how society works. What makes up our social world and how we can best understand and make sense of society. Sociology does this by focusing on a number of different topics such as: crime and deviance, the family, religion and education. In each topic we will look at sociological explanations for that part of society and ask whether society works in a harmony with itself or is in conflict for example. Within each topic we will also look at dimensions of Gender; Class; Age; Race and Ethnicity.
